Mass Effect 2. PC PlayStation 3 Xbox Mass Effect 2 Review. When the original Mass Effect was announced for Xbox , it was promised as a trilogy - aiming to span the expected life-cycle of the console. A believable task given the expected longevity of this generation's tech. In the games industry though, it's generally safer to take long-term promises with a grain of salt. Delays can blow out and even the greatest development studios can fall apart if they have even a short bad run or lose key team members - especially ones who are owned by a major publisher.
With that in mind, it makes it all the sweeter that even after being scooped up by Electronic Arts, the mighty BioWare have continued to make good on their word and delivered a worthy sequel in Mass Effect 2.
Mass Effect 2 once again takes the form of a traditional role-playing videogame RPG mixed with a third-person shooter in an original galactic sci-fi setting. From the RPG side, it takes player character progression with currency-driven upgrades, an epic Universe with intricate lore, extraordinarily fleshed out characters with hours of fully voiced dialogue and from the shooter side it takes action-packed gun battles against dozens of enemies, a variety of weapons all suitable for different circumstances and of course, real-time combat.
What we liked. We gave it:. Latest Comments. Other then that the story is way better this time around and you can feel the effects of what happened in the previous game quite well through out the universe Everyone else is happy with me though.
Thats the instance i was talking about Spoiler: however i reloaded my game and decided to take miranda's side instead of jack's If you mean "sequel that's better than the first", then yes. Mantorok - i nearly have full paragon and im yet to recruit the last member of my squad and complete grunt and that dumb lab dudes personal missions or thanes. Yeah i pissed miranda off too, not quite full paragon yet, so i can't win her back, but in the meantime i have been working on tali, but she wont give it up yet because she is afraid of syphilis or something, but she has that burqua mystique thing going on and i'll find out whats under that mask even if it kills her.
Kelly the personal assistant is pretty easy to flirt with. Note: gamelane is apparently a grey importer; they are getting dropped from our list soon pending further discussion about how to deal with them.
Of course they also showed with the appearance packs they can do lousy addons Bethesda and BioWare are the only ones who actually do decent dlc imo. Oh and Valve, but that's a given :P. I suppose you figure you should get Mass Effect 3 free as well, because it continues the same story from Mass Effect 2?
I've finished the story, thoroughly enjoyed it. Doesn't that mean it should be included in the main story line? But this is integral to the story line and should be included in either ME2 or ME3.
Nowhere does it say you need to play it before you play ME3 though, its just an optional extra. There were novels released that bridged the gap between ME1 and ME2 as well, but they weren't required reading before you could play ME2. And where do you draw the line at what is part of the story anyway? Cos I mean, the shadow broker has been a part of the story since ME1, and that DLC also includes one of the main characters from ME1 and ME2 as a focus, so what makes it less integral to the overall story?
I'm sure it wont be a matter of if you pick up ME3 and you haven't played this DLC you wont know whats going on, I'd be willing to bet most of it will have nothing to do with the actual story of ME3 and will just end on a tease that gives some hints about what the story will be in ME3 and makes you want to get ME3.
If you love the game as much as it seems, why pass up that opportunity. Its not like they promised you this stuff when you bought the game, its extra stuff they're offering you above and beyond what you already have, shouldn't you be thankful for the opportunity of more ME2?
An opportunity you wouldn't have otherwise had? Can i buy through steam or have to get through egay? I think you have to go through Bioware, cos it costs "Bioware points" which you have to buy on their website, its a bit of a pain. The challenge of Arrival is the absence of squad members.
Players must handle the combat on their own, without employing team-based tactics, the core gameplay that Mass Effect fans have become quite comfortable and enamored with. The challenge for BioWare was to design this solo combat to scale to the player's level.
